The Denver rain total from Tuesday and Wednesday this week was more that the city received in June, July and August combined! The rain gauge at Denver International Airport recorded a total of 1.95 inches on Tuesday and Wednesday .  The combined total of rain for June , July, and August was 1.81 inches. Denver also, set a record daily maximum for rainfall on Wednesday with a 24 hour total of 1.41 inches. The old record was .71 inches set in 1908. The rain of this week will go a long way in getting the Front Range back on track for moisture. Before this weeks rainfall. Denver’s precipitation total for the year was at 6.40 inches. That’s just under 6 inches below normal for the year. After the mid-week storm the new total for the year so far is 8.35 inches. That’s 3.87 inches below normal. That means we are still in a drought.
