Police Chief Robert White said Thursday that 25-year-old Dennis Esquibel was in custody. District Attorney Mitch Morrissey says Esquibel faces charges including leaving the scene of a deadly accident. Formal charges likely won’t be filed until next week. Laura McDermott was struck around 1 a.m. Sunday as she was crossing South Broadway. On Tuesday, investigators released surveillance video that briefly showed the vehicle believed to have struck McDermott. The next day, workers spotted a car matching the description of the vehicle near railroad tracks in south Denver.
