Residents To Cash In On Parking For Presidential Debate
Oct 1st 2012, 02:09

DENVER (CBS4) – Some people living around the University of Denver are offering up parking spaces for cash knowing that parking could be a challenge for people driving their own cars to the presidential debate on Wednesday.

There have been several ads on Craigslist. Parking is very restrictive around DU as many streets have time limits and some require residential permits.

The city of Denver says that residential parking permits are in place to help guarantee the residents spots in front of their own homes as the streets can get quite crowded during events.

Some have permit stickers in their windshields and are also given two guest passes. Those may be what some people are offering for sale for the day.

Some people are offering space in their driveway.

“I’m self employed, so every little bit helps,” resident Kristi Pohly said.

Parking enforcement officers will be all over the area during the debate and extremely busy. Parking violations on residential streets cost $25.

Residents calling to have someone towed or ticked may have a bit of a wait on Wednesday because of the massive amounts of traffic.
